Classical Hatha Yoga: The Foundation of All Other Yoga

Join Yolanda Chavez, returning YogaFit certified instructor, for a rejuvenating exploration of foundational yoga. Yolanda will show you all the basic skills and techniques, in a way that will make practical application and home practice easy. Throughout the class, students will learn the basic terminology associated with yoga, proper execution of postures and the eight limbs of Yoga-Yogie philosophy. All postures are taught in the Hatha yoga style which emphasizes proper alignment and slow steady progress.

Yolanda’s style of instruction allows for any level of yoga student, by providing modifications for beginners and intermediate users. She encourages everyone above the age of ten to join this non-judgmental harmonious place of discovery. The focus of the class is the cultivation of a joyful spirit, a peaceful heart, and a body that radiates happiness.

All students should wear clothing that is comfortable to exercise in, as well as a mat, blanket and small pillow, if possible. Parental consent is required for all students under the age of 18. No class Nov. 24 or 26.

Bellyrobics

This exciting exercise class combines Yolanda Chavez’ knowledge of world dance, with a high-energy, cardio workout. Dance, stretch and shake away your stress, in a loving and pressure-free environment. Beginners are welcome, and those with previous belly dance experience are invited to come and refine moves through experimentation. Bring your workout clothes, and your sense of adventure.

Aerobics

Aerobics has been heralded as one of the most effective forms of exercise, particularly when it comes to stress relief and weight control. Following a steady aerobic program gives a participant a sense of commitment and control. Research has consistently shown that a healthy diet in combination with regular exercise is the most successful formula for weight control. This fall, instructor Elena Flores will open up her bank of aerobic knowledge, and share it with those interested.

Certified by the Interactive Fitness Trainers of America (IFTA), Elena knows all the right moves for your aerobic workout. Her objective is to increase cardio fitness, build muscle strength and increase flexibility through static and rhythmic stretching. By the end of the semester, Elena hopes to have instilled in her students the importance and necessity of aerobic and other forms of physical activity. Fusion Funk Belly Dance for Women

Join Yolanda Chavez in this exciting dance style. You will learn techniques and combinations for Classical Orientale Belly Dance and Tribal Style Belly Dance. In this dance form, Yolanda fuses together Arabic Pop, Orientale and Tribal Style Belly Dance and also includes Ethno-Fusion styles and Yogini Yoga (yoga
designed for females).

Lessons in this class are for fun, require no previous experience and are open to women of all shapes, sizes and levels of physical conditioning. Yolanda’s class is modern and primitive, urban and tribal, all in a nonjudgmental environment. The class is designed to suit any female, ages 18 and up.

Fusion Funk Belly Dance can improve students’ flexibility, balance, endurance and confidence and even be a form of stress reduction. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes that will allow for stretching and dance movement, and a hip wrap or scarf is recommended but not required.

Fusion Funk Youth Dance

Fusion Funk Youth Dance is designed for young ladies 9–15-year olds. This class will build self-awareness, empowerment and confidence through ethnic dance. Students will learn the basics of tribal style belly dance and the techniques of Orientale-style belly dance. All ethnic fusion styles are presented in a completely non-judgmental environment so all students can comfortably participate.

Instructor Yolanda Chavez asks that students where comfortable clothes to move and stretch in, and suggests that everyone wear their favorite hip wrap, coin belt and/or bracelets. Sign your young lady up today, and have her experience the beauty of the world through dance. Parental consent is required for all participants.

Tennis for Beginners

This class is intended for persons with little to no tennis experience. Each class students will be taught fundamental tennis strokes through a variety of drills and games. Players will also be educated in the rules of tennis, how to keep score, and an explanation of the lines of the tennis court. Each student is required to have tennis shoes. Tennis balls and a very limited number of tennis racquets will be provided.

Swimming Lessons

Dive into fall with these four convenient rotations of swimming lessons (Levels I-VI). The Red Cross Certified lifeguards/instructors at ENMU are on hand to assist swimmers of all comfort level. Level I is for those uncomfortable in the water or unable to swim. Basic skills and water safety will be taught, and students will have a brief introduction to deep water. Level II is designed for those who need additional instruction in basic swimming skills and those who may still be uncomfortable with the deep water. This level will continue to emphasize water safety, and teach more of the necessary deep-water skills. Level III is for those who are unafraid of deep water and need to perfect their swimming skills.

All levels will emphasize the necessary techniques of swimming, such as breathing, floating, and the numerous variations of stroke. Sign up your little swimmer, and take comfort knowing that the lifeguard’s number one concern is the safety of your child. Spots are limited, so sign up soon.

Aqua Fitness

Hit the pool this fall with Trish Maguire. Aqua Fitness provides the fluid environment of the pool with dynamic exercises sure to tone muscles and improve blood flow. Classes could include anything from water polo to a noodle battle; it’s something new every week.

If you want the resistance and health benefits of working out in the pool, without the regiment of an Aerobics or Water Walking class, come and try Aqua Fitness. Be sure to bring a swimsuit and towel.
