Golden Library--Things You Need to Know

ENMU ID Number

An ENMU ID number is needed to obtain library material and to use the periodical databases from off campus. Your ID number is provided by the Registrar and located on your registration materials.

ENMU E-mail Account

An ENMU e-mail account is necessary to request library materials, communicate in your classes, and conduct university business. Click here to activate your ENMU e-mail account.

ILLiad Account

To place requests for library material, register with the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system. Click on "Log In/Register with ILLiad" and register once as a First Time User. Indicate your status as Distance Ed undergraduate or graduate student, so we know to send material directly to you; faculty located off campus should register as off-campus faculty. To place ILL requests, return to the same ILLiad link and log in with your ILLiad username and password. Students registered only through the ENMU-Roswell campus, and not the ENMU-Portales campus, must request library material through the ENMU-Roswell campus library.

Passports

Students and faculty may request a passport that enables them to use the services of neighboring academic libraries at no charge. Contact Golden Library to request a passport. We need the name of the library you want to use and your ID number. Present the passport to the circulation desk of the other library. Be prepared to show your ID card or driver's license as identification. Passports are valid for one semester at a time, but may be requested any time.

Borrowing Library Materials

Circulating (returnable) library material borrowed from Golden Library or another library will be sent free of charge directly to your home. You must mail back items to Golden Library at your own expense. ITV-videoconference students may return materials to their ITV site and facilitators will send them back to Golden Library. Please save the bag or box and enclosed Golden Library mailing label to return items to us.

Borrowing time for books is five weeks for off-campus undergraduate students and 10 weeks for off-campus graduate students and faculty, from the time materials are sent, until we get them back from you. Borrowing time for videos and DVDs is 3 weeks for all off-campus students and faculty (1 week, plus an additional week coming and going). Golden material may be renewed by telephone or within ILLiad before the due date. A fine of $.25 per day, per item, is charged for overdue items. For returnable material obtained through interlibrary loan, the borrowing period is set by the lending library (see the book sleeve for due date). Golden Library has no control over borrowing periods set by other libraries. We also have no control over whether renewals are granted by other libraries.

All students and faculty may recall a book that has been checked out, and all students and faculty must comply with a request to return a recalled book checked out to them. If you need a book that is currently checked out, you may call the circulation desk and request that the book be recalled. Off-campus students and faculty have a full week to return a recalled book.

Photocopied and electronically delivered articles become the property of requesters and need not be returned. The library will mail photocopies to student and faculty homes or send electronically received articles to the requester's ILLiad account or ENMU email account.

Electronic Reserves

Reserve readings are available via the Electronic Reserves System (ERS). Select Electronic Reserves, class name, and title of item. Your instructor will provide you with an ERS password.
