Special Programs

ENMU's Office of Housing and Residence life offers several special programs for the students and the community. For nontraditional students, we offer commuter housing if you will only be in town for a few days each week. If your family is coming to visit you, we offer guest housing for them or anyone else. We also provide housing if you decide to have a conference at ENMU. Listed below are some more of Eastern's special programs provided by the Office of Housing and Residence Life.

First-Year Experience Floors

First-year experience floors are offered in Bernalillo and Lincoln halls. These floors are for first time freshmen only and provide a unique and structured experience for the residents. Special programs are regularly offered that focus on issues affecting first year students. These range from educational and cultural to social and recreational issues.

By living together on a unique first-year floor, the students provide each other with support needed during the college transition. Such a living arrangement affords them the opportunity to develop study groups among themselves because many of the other floor residents will be in the same classes.

An individual/group study area is available for students who desire a quiet environment away from their room, or a place for small group work. The resource area contains work table space and computers with Internet access. In addition, the resource room is staffed by students who can offer tutoring services in the common first-year courses.

The first-year experience floor program is available to any first-year student without additional cost.

Academic Support

We mean it when we say, "Student Success—that's what it's all about." We offer special programs to support students' academic progress: in-hall tutoring every week night, focused on course specific study groups; online computer labs; classrooms where some courses are offered in the halls; and established study hours.
